We are a Father and Daughter team. Angelica (aged 9) started Taekwondo with MAS over a year ago as she was having a few issues at school with bad behaviour. It was recommended that she seek some sort of Martial Art to learn to control her anger. At 1st she needed guidance to stay focused, but once she started seeing the skills she was obtaining, she concentrated hard during every lesson while still making sure she was having fun. She has since risen to Blue Belt level and has even gone on to win a Silver medal for Poomsae in her very 1st Tournament. Her confidence and self control is excellent now and she shows maximum respect for her instructors and fellow students, who have also become great friends of hers.
I joined only a few months ago just to try to get fit again. The workout that Taekwondo gives cannot be beat. I feel so fit and strong these days its amazing. I am also slowly getting the flexibility back which I had when I was in my early 20’s. Iam 35 now. Plus, what could be more satisfying than being able to do a sport/activity with my daughter. I love it and don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.
In saying this, I don’t think it would be the same at another Taekwondo school. The Fernandez family really know how to run a successful school. They know how to keep it fun for the little ones and how to push the older ones to reach their goals. All along doing this in a safe and extremely fun environment. Family days and events are organised outside of classes and it truly is a family affair.
Long live MAS
